Roger Ellis Eisner Roger Ellis Eisner 72 of Middleton passed away at home, surrounded by his family, Saturday, May 31, 2008. Born in Berwick, NS, the eldest son of the late Ellis Foster and Lou (Adams) Eisner-Peebles-Dares, he spent part of his childhood in Middleton, Windsor and Pictou, as well as Berwick. Roger began his career in broadcasting, first in Bridgewater while still in high school with the local radio station, and, then, in Toronto, Hamilton and Kentville before landing a job with CBHT-TV in Halifax in 1954. In 1956 he married Donna Levy and together they raised three children while he worked in many fields, including real estate, sales, education and as an entrepreneur. He was a member of the Armdale Yacht Club and served as their Vice-Commodore. In 1973, the family moved to Middleton, where he began Middleton Paper and Plastics and later Roger's Custom Framing and Gallery, from which he retired in 1997. Roger enjoyed many hobbies including model railroading and music. He was active in his community, being a past member of the AVABT, a founding member of the Western Valley Development Authority, and has served on the Middleton Town Planning and Advisory Committee since 1983. In 1996 he was named Volunteer of the Year. Roger was very involved with the Masonic Order and was raised in Keith Lodge #17 in May, 1962 and became their first life-member on February 10th, 2007. He served as Master of Ionic #73 in 1980 and was named DDGM for Annapolis Digby District in 1993 and again in 2000. He held many positions in Grand Lodge before being elected Grand Master of Nova Scotia in 2006. He was also a member of Philae Temple, a 18 degree Scottish Rite and Annaval Chapter #31, O.E.S. in Middleton and received additional life-memberships in 2007 from Ionic #73, Middleton and Unity #4 in Lunenburg. Roger is survived by his wife the former, Donna Levy; daughter, Heather (Richard) Harris of Bridgetown and son R. Allan (Sandra) Eisner of Sussex, NB; and daughter-in-law, Isobel Tuazon of Duchess, AB; his grandchildren, A.J. and Josh Harris of Bridgetown; Cynthia and Brittany Eisner, Sussex and Laura (Tyrell), Kelsey and Tony Eisner of Duchess, AB; step-grandchildren, Rick (Tanya) Harris, Fredericton; Robin (Becky), Kingston, NS, Shannon (Danny) Fougere, Shediac, NB, Jay Taylor, Halifax, Jamie Eisner, NWT and Shane and Louis Boyd, Sussex; one great-granddaughter, Kali in Duchess, AB; and seven great step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce (Steve) Eisner, Halifax. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Phillip Eisner of Duchess, AB and step-granddaughter, Katherine Taylor of Windsor, ON. Cremation has taken place. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 2nd in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 conducted by Annaval Chapter #31, immediately followed by a Masonic service conducted by Ionic Lodge #73. Visitation will continue at the conclusion of these services until 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3rd at the Middleton Baptist Church, Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
