Joseph Jérémie (Jerry) Doiron (Gould) (1920-2008) C'est avec grand regret que nous annonçons le décès de Jérémie (Jerry Sr) Doiron, âgé de 88 ans, survenu le lundi 7 juillet 2008, à l'Hôpital de Moncton, après une courte lutte contre le cancer. Né à Acadieville le 14 février 1920, il était fils de feu Georges Doiron (Gould) et de feu Clemence Leblanc. Il laisse dans le deuil sa seconde épouse, Dorina Leblanc; une fille, Rita Martin (Paul) de Moncton; huit fils: Paul J. Doiron (Claudette) de Collette, Jerry Doiron-Gould Jr (Carol), Richard Doiron, Raymond J. Doiron (Linda), Ronald Doiron (Roxanne), Georges Doiron, Daniel Doiron (Susanne) et Roger Doiron (Hazelle), tous de Moncton; ses beaux-enfants: Pierre LeBlanc (Lise) d'Acadieville, Alphée LeBlanc (Alma) de Grandbay, Qc; deux belles-filles: Laura Archambeault de Montréal, Qc et Edna Goguen de Longueuil, Qc; 24 petits-enfants: Gisele, Michael, Nicole, Stephanie, Miranda McCouby, Elysha Doiron, Melanie, Kevin, Chad, Julie, Sheida, Sarah-Jane, Jeremie, Mathew, Crystal, Cindy, Evan Lee, Curtis, Ryan Doiron, John Atkin, Michelle Devidi, Kathy Tinney, Stephen Atkin et Caroline Atkin; quatre beaux-grands-enfants: Andrew et Stephen Sherman, Lisa et Shawn Thibodeau; 23 arrière-petits-enfants: Zacharie Fontaine, Tiana Doiron, Gabriel Shaw, Isabela Shaw, Kayla et Madison Richard, Shanon, Brooke, Shanna, Eric, Rachel, Laressa et Ava Doiron, Maria Doiron, Maiko Dufour-Doiron, Katrina Tinney, William Tinney, Lily Tinney, Carter McCouby, Danika, Jacob, Maxime Thibodeau et Mackenzie Sherman-Ross; une soeur, Clémence (Gaudet) Pellerin de Dieppe, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et amis. Sa première épouse, Imelda Arseneault (2001); trois enfants en bas âge: Jérémie, Rita et Georges; ses frères: Aurèle et Jérémie en bas âge, Alfred, Aurèle, Grégoire et Normand, ainsi qu'une soeur Eva, en bas âge, l'ont précédée dans la tombe. Jerry était un ancien combattant de la Seconde Guerre mondiale avec l'Armée canadienne de 1941 à 1946. Il était stationné à Nonaimo C.-B., d'où il a servi comme police militaire. Après la guerre, il est retourné à Moncton et a travaillé avec CNR et Maritime Coop, jusqu'en 1966. Après être déménagé à Kitchener, Ont, il a travaillé pour Uniroyal et pour le district des écoles catholiques jusqu'à son retour à Moncton en 1978. Il s'est retiré de la Corporation des commissionnaires (#8) de Lakeburn en 1986. Jerry était un homme très fier et avait une grande passion pour la vie et pour sa grande famille. Il avait une forte dévotion pour son église et pour son Dieu. Il aimait les trains, pêcher et avait un grand amour pour la boxe dont il a fait partie pendant plus de 70 ans, comme entraîneur, gérant et promoteur. Il a été introduit au Temple de la renommée canadienne de la boxe en 1976 à Toronto et au Mur de la renommée de Moncton en 1986. Patriarche de «Fithing Doiron Family», il était impliqué avec des boxeurs renommés comme Yvon Durelle, Tilly LeBlanc et Ron Savoie et a formé plusieurs champions nationaux, incluant certains de ses fils et autres membres de la famille. Il était membre de la Légion royale canadienne de Rogersville, ancien président de l'Association ontarienne de boxe de 1971 à 1974, membre du Club de boxe F.I.S.T.S. et se recueillait à l'église Sainte-Augustine de Moncton. La famille recevra parents et amis à compter de 14h, le mercredi 9 juillet, au salon «La Colombe», 11 325, route 126, à Rogersville. Les funérailles seront célébrées en l'église Saint-François-de-Sales de Rogersville, le jeudi 10 juillet, à 16h. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière de Rosaireville. Heures de visites: le mercredi 9 juillet, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le jeudi 10 juillet, de 13h jusqu'au départ pour les funérailles. Un don pour la Société canadienne du cancer ou à une oeuvre de bienfaisance de votre choix serait apprécié. Born on February 14th 1920 in Belliveau Road (Acadieville), he was the son of the late Georges Doiron (Gould) and Clemence LeBlanc. Jerry served during WW 11, in the Canadian Army, 1941-1946 and was stationed in Nonaimo BC where he served in Military Police. After the war, he returned to Moncton and worked at the CNR and Maritime Co-op until 1966, when he moved to Kitchener, Ontario. There he worked at Uniroyal and for the Catholic School district until returning to Moncton in 1978. He retired as a member of the Corps of Commissionaires (# 8) Lakeburn in 1986. Jerry was a very proud man, had a great passion for life, and his large family, followed by a strong devotion to his church and his Lord. He loved trains, fishing and had a great love for the sport boxing, where he was involved for more than 70 years, as a trainer, manager, and promoter. He was inducted in Canadian boxing Hall of Fame 1976 (Toronto) and the Moncton Wall of Fame 1986. The patriarch of the Fighting Doiron Family , he was involved with many great fighters including Yvon Durelle, Tilly LeBlanc and Ron Savoie and developed several National Champs including some of his sons and other family members. He had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Rogersville until recently, was a past President of Ontario Boxing Association, 1971-1974, was a member of F.I.S.T.S. Boxing Club, and attended St-Augustine's Church in Moncton. He is survived by his second wife, Dorina LeBlanc ; one sister, Clemence (Gaudet) Pellerin of Dieppe one daughter, Rita Martin (Paul) of Moncton ; eight sons : Paul J. Doiron (Claudette) of Collette, Jerry Doiron-Gould Jr (Carol), Richard Doiron, Raymond J. Doiron (Linda), Ronald Doiron (Roxanne), Georges Doiron, Daniel Doiron (Susanne), Roger Doiron (Hazelle) all of Moncton ; and also survived by step children : Pierre LeBlanc (Lise) Acadieville, Alphée LeBlanc (Alma) Grandbay, Qc two step daughters : Laura Archambeault, Montréal, Qc and Edna Goguen of longeuil, Qc. He is also survived by 24 grand children : Gisele, Michael, Nicole, Stephanie, Miranda, Mccouby, Elysha Doiron, Melanie, Kevin, Chad, Julie, Sheida, Sarah-jane, Jeremie, Mathew, Crystal, Cindy, Evan Lee, Curtis, Ryan Doiron, John Atkin, Michelle Devidi, Kathy Tinney, Stephen Atkin, Caroline Atkin and four Step grand kids : Andrew and Stephen Sherman, Lisa and Shawn Thibodeau ; 23 great grand children : Zacharie Fontaine, Tiana Doiron, Gabriel Shaw, Isabela Shaw, Kayla and Madison Richard, Shanon, Brooke, Shanna, Eric, Rachel, Laressa and Ava Doiron, Maria Doiron and Maiko Dufour- Doiron, Katrina Tinney, William Tinney, Lily Tinney, Carter McCouby, Danika, Jacob, Maxime Thibodeau and Mackenzie Sherman-Ross ; and by many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Salon 'La Colombe' 11 325 rte 126, Rogersville from 2pm, Wednesday, July 9th. The funeral service will be held at the St-Francois-de-Sales Roman Catholic Church Thursday, July 10th at 4pm. Visiting hours: Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9 pm and Tursday from 1pm until departure for funeral service.
