Pia Corvaro (née Cannellini) November 20, 1922 - July 19, 2008 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Pia. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at St. Peter's Hospital on Saturday, July 19, 2008, in her 86th year. Beloved wife for 57 years of Umberto. Cherished and loving mother and mother-in-law of Mimma and Franco DiGiantomasso and John and Anna (Varrasso) Corvaro. Devoted and adoring Nonna of Federico, Frank Jr., Marco and Olivia. Loving daughter and daughter-in-law of the late Giovanna Cavicchioni and Giuseppe Cannellini and the late Emidio and Petronilla Corvaro. Dearest sister of the late Agostina and the late Pietro Celani and the late Maria and Emidio Travaglini, the late Maria and the late Donato Balloni, the late Attilia and the late Emidio Coccia, the late Mario and Domenica Corvaro, Emma and the late Antonio Sabatini, Erpino and Albina Corvaro, Renato and the late Ida Corvaro. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, the United States and Italy. Our immense gratitude to Dr. Trus and his team at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and the Henderson Hospital and to the wonderful caring and compassionate staff of 2 West at St. Peter's Hospital. In 1952, Pia left Ascoli Piceno, Italy as a talented seamstress to join her husband in Canada. Pia will forever be remembered as having an extraordinary love and devotion for her family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was baking and cooking for her family. Her favourite talent was preparing wonderful feasts for any occasion and all she ever wanted in return was the satisfaction of watching her family enjoy the love and laughter of being together. Pia was a kind and gentle lady whose great love, strength, and wisdom remains in the legacy of her children and grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Tuesday, July 22 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers Tuesday at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
