Michele Fortino June 01, 1920 - July 17, 2008 It is with great sadness the family of Michele Fortino announces his passing, on July 17, 2008 at McMaster Hospital, at the age of 88. He was born June 1, 1920 in Donnici, Cosenza, Italy. Beloved husband of the late Marietta (Spadafora). Beloved father of Antonio and wife Mara, Rosina and Santo. Will be missed by grandchildren Maria and Ron, Michele, Nadia, Luca, Francesca, Gabriella and great-grandchildren Emilie and Domenic. Survived by sister Ida and late Michele Gatto, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law Rita and the late Francesco Fortino, Teresa and the late Ippolito Spadafora, Ida and the late Eugenio Spadafora, Rosina and the late Michele Spadafora and Angela and the late Giuseppe Dodaro. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loving parents Santo and Rosina Fortino, sisters and brothers Virginia (Giovanni) Bozzo, Filomena (Antonio) Bozzo, Annina (Eugenio) Filice and Giuseppe (Marietta/Adelina) Fortino, as well as sisters-in-law Marianna (Palmo) Spadafora, Ida (Giovanni) Carbone, Laura (Antonio) Pagliaro. Mr. Fortino will be resting at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Sunday 3-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, July 21st at Regina Mundi Church at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. His journey has ended but his kindness and good example will remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. The family is grateful for the excellent care and support of the staff in Ward 4Z at McMaster Hospital.
