Mr. Gordon William Govenlock - July 15, 1915 - May 12, 2004 - Passed away peacefully at the Cowichan District Hospital on Wednesday, May 12, 2004. Born in Manitoba, July 15, 1915. Lovingly remembered by his family; wife of 40 years Elizabeth; sons; Stuart(Terry) and Alden (Kathie); 9 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; brother; Charlie (Betty) and sister Islay. Gordie was active in Sooke with Cubs, Scouts, Sooke Community Association and the Sooke Museum. Served with the Royal Canadian Army over seas during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54 as well as the Duncan Senior Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Glen Robinson, the nurses and staff of the Cowichan District Hospital for the wonderful care and dedication they gave. A memorial tea will be held at the Duncan Senior Centre, 198 Government Street, Duncan, BC on Sunday, May 16, 2004 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorial remembrances may be mad to the Cowichan District Hospital.
