Jennie McMahon (née Steele) - June 19, 1905 - May 29, 2004 - Peacefully on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Victoria General Hospital, Jennie passed away at the age of 98. Born in Parry Sound, ON on July 19, 1905, she moved to Saskatchewan with her family as a child. She married Orville McMahon in Winnipeg on March 17, 1925. They farmed in Roland, MB area before moving to Winnipeg in 1939. Jennie was a long-time member of Grey Street United Church and enjoyed many activities with the Senior's Group. She also enjoyed making quilts, needlepoint and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband Orville in 1972; daughter Dorothy, 1996; son Barnet, 1996; and daughter Elizabeth (Elsie) in 2003. Jennie is survived by sons James (Betty) of Winnipeg, Don of Salt Springs Island, BC, and Gordon of Edmonton, AB; eleven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff at Vista Park Lodge Nursing Home and the Victoria General Hospital for their care of and devotion to Jennie. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, officiated by Reverend Glen Morrison. We will miss you, Mom and Grandma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
