Audrey Marian KENT

Mrs. Audrey Marian Scholtmeijer (née Kent)- - April 19, 1915 - May 29, 2004 - Of Richmond, B.C. passed quietly away at home Saturday, May 29 at the age of 89. She was born April 19, 1915 in Nottingham, England, the daughter of Edward Louis and Annie Kent. After a brief career as an office assistant, she achieved her RSN during World War II and nursed in Southhampton, England. She met her husband, Hessel H.A.R. Scholtmeijer in 1938 and they became engaged July 2, 1939. The couple was married November 27, 1945 in Holland. Their daughters, Trijntje Annette and Marian Louise, were born in Guildford, England. In 1953 the family immigrated to Canada, where Audry worked for many years in a local doctor's office. A passionate reader, she also enjoyed gardening and travel. Her brothers, Alfred, Eric, and Percy Kent, and a daughter, Audrey, preceded her in death. As a devoted wife and mother, she will be sadly missed by her husband, daughters, sons-in-law Charles Desch and Ted Altar, her grandchild Stephanie Helen Margqaurt, and a host of nephews and nieces in England. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to World Vision, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, ON L5T 2Y4.
