Russell "Russ" George Hamilton - July 30, 1931 - June 01, 2004 - It is with great sorrow that the family of Russell George Hamilton announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather after a courageous battle with a dragon. Russ was born on a farm in Madoc, Ontario. He came to Thunder Bay in 1949 where he met and married his wife Ruth (Halvorsen) in 1950. Together they had three children - Marlene (Don Harris), Rolene (Jeff McKnight) and Alexander (Michele Kemp). Words cannot express how much he will be missed by his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Russ spent most of his life as an iron worker for Coastal Steel Construction and after retiring he worked with his son in the forest industry for a short time. He spent the last few years operating his own glass repair business which was located at the "Big Yellow Tent" in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Russ grew to have a special love for the outdoors after living for many years on Billy Lake in Dorion, Ontario. He loved to travel and treated his family to many vacations in warm, sunny hotspots. His most treasured possessions were his family and he was so proud of each and every one. A memorial service for Mr. Russell Hamilton will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangel Church, 1260 Balmoral Street with Pastor Gary Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Russ' memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation, the Gideon's or the Evangel Church Building Fund.
