Greta Elizabeth MacDonald (née Gouchie)- - age 83, of Amherst passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor N.S. Born in Nappan, N.S., she was a daughter of the late George and Minnie (Arsenault) Gouchie. Greta was a member of Nativity Of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church, Amherst where she was organist for 10 years and a member of the CWL. She enjoyed entertaining, playing the piano and old time music. During World War II, Greta worked for Canada Car in Amherst. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Border Bells for 5 years as well as the Pythian Sisters and Fly Away Campers. Greta is survived by two daughters Carolyn MacDonald (Keith) of Windsor and Sherry Beed (Rick Spence) of Amherst, one son George (Cheryl) MacDonald of Dartmouth, N.S., grandchildren Niki, Cindi, Jerome, David, Sheila, Christopher and Stephanie and great grandchildren Corey, Adam, Chelsey and Katie. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald and one foster brother Gordon Noiles. Her remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 3 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from Nativity Of Our Lady Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery, Amherst. Following the interment, a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held in the church hall. Donations in Greta's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
