Mrs. Catherine A. Fillmore (née MacLean) - age 96 of Amherst passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Centennial Villa, Amherst. Born in Dayton, North Dakota, she was a daughter of the late George William and Annabelle (Smart) MacLean, who resided in Durham, Pictou County, N.S., She was a graduate nurse from Providence, Rhoda Island. Catherine was a very charming lady. She was a member of Trinity St. Stephen's Church and a life Membership of the Amherst Chapter of the I.O.D.E. Chatherin is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by one daugther Cairine (Arthur) White of Amherst; one son William of Amherst; five grandchildren William (Fiona) of Oakville, Ont., Joan of Oshawa, Ont., Alicia Mary of Japan and Sarah of Halifax, N.S.; three great grandchildren Ashley, Nathan and Oscar; sister-in-law Marion Maclean of St. Stephens N.B., and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William; brother James; sister Helen (Proudfoot) and niece Annabelle. Her remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Dr. Waldo Gravely officiating. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery. Donation's in Catherine's memory may be made to the Deafness Advocacy Association, N.S., or charity of choice.
