Mrs. Dorothy Mary Webb née Carmody) - The passing of Dorothy Mary Webb, age 87, of Amherst, Nova Scotia, formerly of Charlottetown, P.E.I. occurred at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on June 9, 2004. She was the eldest daughter of the late Weston William and Mary Angevine (Saulnier) Carmody, Charlottetown. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church, Amherst, N.S. By those who truly knew her, Dorothy will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, her crafts, baking and knitting and many acts of kindness. Her perfectionism in knitting won her many awards and ribbons at the local and provincial fairs. Dorothy designed and mad thousands of lapel pins for the annual Amherst Blueberry Festival. Upon moving to Amherst, she worked at the Canada Car and Aircraft Factory where she met her husband Laurie. While they were proprietors of the Amherst Shore Seaside Co-op, with Laurie's guidance, she became an accurate marksman and deer hunter and with envy won many local "turkey shoots." She loved to dance, play cards, sing and her creativity seasonally brightened the hospital rooms at the Inter-Provincial School for the Deaf (Amherst) where she worked as a nursing assistant for 12 years. With determination and pride, even in the latter of her years and in spite of poor health, her desire was always to do her best in any way she could, for all her family, whom she loved dearly. She leaved to mourn daughter Faye (Howard) Pike, Amherst: sons Peter (Sandra) Lower Sackville, N.S., and son Michael at home. Grandchildren Jeffrey (Samantha) Pike, Moncton, N.B., Lindsay Pike, Kenora, ON., Helena (Stephen) Cummings, Dartmouth, N.S., Kurtis Webb, Lower Sackville, N.S., great grandchildren, Liam Cummings and Madeleine Pike, half brother Doug Carmody, Charlottetown, sister in law Mary Carmody, of White Rock, B.C. and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Lawrence (Laurie) Everett Webb, her loving step mother Kathleen (Powell) Carmody; brothers Heath Carmody of White Rock, B.C.; Ernest (Tish) and Betty Carmody and nephew Paul of Truro, N.S.; sister Evelyn and Ray Lawson of Sault Ste. Marie, ON.; half brother Weston Jr. and half sister Lillian, all of Charlottetown. A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the Amherst Cemetery with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Following the service their will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S. Donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center
