Nohra J. Mansour ---- September 20, 1910 - July 07, 2004 ---- 93, Halifax, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born September 20, 1910, in Halifax, he was a son of the late Joseph Nohra and Louise (Baxter) Mansour. Norm was a member of Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church for many years. He was a printer until 1943 and then went into the grocery business from 1943 until his store, Mansour's Grocery on Poplar Street, closed in 1972. While working in the grocery business, he also started in real estate in the 1950s and he was an original member of the Halifax-Dartmouth Real Estate Board. Norm eventually retired from a life of hard work when he was 85. Norm was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, the former Gladys Eileen Harrie; son, Joseph "Joe" (Velva); grandchildren, Susan, Bruce, Nicole, Jennifer, Paul; three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Helen Mansour; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Ronald, and Norman in infancy; sisters, Rosemary Hatt, Josephine Dunphy; brothers, Wilfred, John, Michael. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. No visitation by request. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Saturday in Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 3473 Dutch Village Rd., Halifax, Father Francis Vog-Enga officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only.
