Mr. Alvin Raymond "Kaiser" Lewis ---- age 90, of Amherst passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Amherst he was a son of the late Hector and Ellen (Purchase) Lewis. Alvin was a veteran of World War II serving from 1942 to 1946. He worked with Mike Mansour at Mansour's Men Wear and the Silver Slipper in Amherst for many years. The last five years before retirement he worked for Douglas and Rogers, Amherst. Alvin will be remembered for his love of horses, politics, sports and his keen interest in playing cards with his friends. He was a life long member of Christ Church, Amherst. Alvin in survived by his daughter Ann Lewis of Kentville, sister Margaret (Theodore) Hatcher and brother Hampton both of Amherst and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Daisy Kay, brothers Walter, Chester, James, David and Arthur and sisters Marion, Gladys, Olive, Susie and Frances. His remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst with visiting on Monday, July 12, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Christ Church, Amherst with The Rev. Glenn Eason officiating assisted by The Rev. David S. Myles. Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Canadian Cancer Society, Christ Church or charity of your choice.
