AYEARST, Muriel Carrie (nee Stephens) July 4, 1914 - September 22, 2004 Muriel passed away peacefully in Duncan, BC with her family at her side. Born in Otter Lake, Quebec to parents John and Bella Stephens, she settled in Quyon, Quebec with her husband Bruce to raise their sons and farm. Predeceased by Bruce in 1956. Muriel continued farming until the early sixties, working at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa. She became politically active as President of the Liberal Women's Association of Western Quebec. During this time she was also Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She retired to Duncan in the early 1980's. Muriel is survived by her sister Myrtle Greene and her husband Alan. Also survived by her sons and their spouses, John and Dorelne, Morley and Jennifer, David and Sheila, Jim and Betty, Grandchildren Bruce, Jill, Rachel, Leah, MacLean, Julia, Robin and her great-grandchildren Lehran, Chelsea, Ginelle and Olivia. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers. Interment at 12:30 following regular 10:30 a.m. service at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Shawville on Sunday, Oct. 24th at Village Cemetery. The Ottawa Citizen
