BAKER, Bena Henderson Mawson (Minkie Ford) At Ottawa, on Friday, October 15, 2004 at age 79 years, after more than a decade's struggle with cancer, heart and Alzheimer's problems. Born Victoria, British Columbia on February 8, 1925. Survived by her loving husband, Commodore Ernest Baker, Royal Canadian Navy (Ret'd), daughter Julie Gregg and her husband James, grandsons Rodger and Philip Gregg, all of Halifax, NS and son David Baker and Terry Stanislow of Stewiacke, NS. Daughter of the late Alexander Henderson Ford born in Dunfermiline, Scotland and Bena Ewing (Seon) Ford born in Reading, England. Granddaughter of Captain John Graham Ford of Dunfermiline, Scotland who was in command of the sailing ship DISCOVERY of the Hudson Bay Company from 1906 through 1911. Granddaughter of Dr. Greville Ewing Seon of Hamilton, Bermuda and latterly of Kelowna, BC. She attended St. Margaret's School and Oak Bay High School, both in Victoria, BC. She is sorely missed by all who knew her and in particular by all those family members to whom she contributed so much in their development and success over the past 55 years, as Wife and Mother. The family extends thanks to the Management and Staff of the Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence for their competent and kindly care during her stay. We also thank the medical and nursing staff on 4th Level at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their considerate care. It is her desire to have no visitation and no funeral. Cremation will take place with scattering of ashes at a later date. Flowers and donations gratefully declined. Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumns rain. When you awaken in the mornings hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. The Ottawa Citizen
