LAMPING, Hugh Joseph, "To live on in the hearts of people who love you is really to not die at all" On Saturday, September 18, 2004 in his 65th year. Devoted husband of Helen. Survived by his sisters Irene (Larry) Lisoy, Jane (Dennis) Dyck, Terry (Pete) MacDougall, brothers Wolf (Karen) Lamping, Peter (Pam) Szymczyk, and stepfather John Szymczyk. Predeceased by his late wife Pat Lamping (1992), mother Elfr ieda Szymczyk and brother Johann Lamping. Dear brother-in-law of Jim and Charlene Clocherty. He was employed for 38 year s with Fraser Paper before retiring in 1997. His proudest accomplishment was graduating from Bishop McCarthy Secondary School with his grade 12 diploma in 1999. Hugh was a past member of the Merritton Volunteer Fire Department, Merritton Athletic Ass ociation, Associate Member of the R.C.L. Branch 17, and a member of Knights of Columbus (Thorold). He never lost his sense of humour, never complained about what he had to endure, and maintained a strong faith and spiritual conviction. Hugh enjoyed t he time he spent in his workshop and we know that he is already fixing the gate of Heaven while watching over us. His passions were his time spent with his family, golfing and travelling. Hugh was a wonderful example of determination and unconditiona l love. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the KARL A. HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia's Church on Thursday, September 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Harvest of Hope or Wellspring Niagara would be appreciated by the family. - 9/20/2004 - ID4855849
