Jack MARTIN

MARTIN, Jack "Tuffy", Peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday, October 4th, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of 53 years to Kay Martin of Thorold. Loving father of Kathleen (Fred) Cook of Arlington, VA, Susan (Ross) D ickinson, John (Cathy) Martin, Michael and Peter, all of Thorold. Dear grandfather of Sarah (Jonas) of Dana Point, CA., Rachel (Dave) of Manassas, VA., Brian, Kevin, Adam, J.J. and Joey, all of Thorold, and great-grandfather of Caroline and Margaret. Brother-in-law of Helen (Ken) Wilson. Predeceased by a sister Bette and brother-in-law Woodruff Band and their daughter Jennifer. Dear uncle of Martin (Lynn) Band and several other nieces and nephews. Tuffy was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy, a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17, Thorold, a founding member of the Legion Baseball Association. A member of the St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse Association. Tuffy was elected over a 28 year period to the Thorold Hydro Commission. He was employed at the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority for 44 years, retiring in 1982. Tuffy will be missed at the Thorold Arena, where he spent many nights in the past 45 years watching his sons and grandsons play hockey. The family will r eceive their friends at the KARL A. HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold. The Royal Can adian Legion Branch 17, Thorold will hold a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to The Legion Poppy Fund, Branch 17, Thorold. - 10/6/2004 - ID4948327
