Mrs. Lila Houston June 26, 1917 - October 3, 2008 - The Houston Family announces the passing on October 3rd of their beloved mother, Lila, at the age of 91. Mom passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, at home as she wished, surrounded by her children. Mom lived her life with courage and a positive attitude, extending love and support to everyone she knew. In her own words “she had a wonderful life with no envy or regrets”. Mom loved gardening, reading and travelling and was a crackerjack at crosswords. She appreciated the wonder of nature, still enjoying being outside on her deck, in her final days. Above all, Mom loved her church, her family, her friends and her home. Mom, we will miss you. You greatly enriched all our lives and will live in our hearts forever. Survived by her children, Lee (Alex) Dublanko, Lorraine (John) Brodeur, Ron, Lynn (Bert) Moritz, Joan (Don) McCarthy, Richard, Jean (Norman) Greenwall, Raymond, Terry, David (Cindy), Cathy (Andrew Phillips), 39 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren, 18 Great Great Grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Predeceased by her husband Garnett in 1960, children Sonny, Eunice (Joe) Kellert, Irene (Norm) Missel and infant children, Darlene, Linda and John, parents John and Annie Fischer, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and beloved aunts Clara and Rose. Special thanks for the excellent care and support of devoted caregiver Marina Capan, Home Care Nurse Michelle Gerbrandt and the Fort Home Care nursing team, Dr Linda Carter, Dr Mohammed Gauri and Jim Warburton and staff of the Fort Shoppers Drug Mart. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 2:00 pm at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road, on Range Rd 232, Sherwood Park, viewing one hour prior. Cremation and private interment to follow.
