Doris was born on March 31, 1914 in the Brightholme District, SK. She received her schooling in Mount Teviot School and while working in Parkside she met Art. They were married in 1935 and farmed in the Spruce Glen district. They retired in 1966 and moved to Prince Albert. She was employed at Craig’s Drapery Department and later at the Co-op Cafeteria. Mom had a strong faith, which was evident in her life style. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. Doris was an avid knitter, loved to crochet and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were sure to receive mitts for Christmas. Mom’s home was always open to company and the kettle was always ready to make tea or coffee, which was quite often served with her delicious gingersnaps. Mom left her home at 542 - 19th Street East in 1988 and moved into Marquis Towers where she resided for 19 years. She had been a resident at Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home for the last 10 months before her passing. The Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14 from the River Park Memorial Chapel. Mr. Jim Atcheson and Mr. Lloyd Kneesch will officiate. Interment will take place in the Parkside Cemetery. It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation and Victoria Hospital Foundation.
