Emil Haider April 02, 1933 - November 07, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) It is in great sadness we announce the passing of Emil Haider on November 7, 2004 at the age of 71 at the Cowichan District Hospital after a long battle with heart disease and cancer. He was predeceased by his mother Ludmila, father Anton and brother Rudolf. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Irene of 43 years, his three daughters Edith (Ralph) Lange, Lisa (Marc) Gervais and Christine (Robert) Ness. He was know as Opapa to his Grandchildren Ryan, Mathew, Caitlyn, Nicole, Taylor and Garrett. Emil was born April 2, 1933 in St. Georgen am Walde, Austria and arrived in Canada in 1957 where he met and married the love of his life Irene. He will always be remembered for being a very kind man and always seeing the good side of people. He was a hard worker, had a great sense of humor and was dedicated to his family. Emil’s many enjoyments included fishing, painting, camping and travelling with his family and very good friends. He also enjoyed the company and companionship of his beloved dog Rocky. Emil will be forever remembered and sadly missed. Auf Wiedersehen dear man, until we meet again. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow in Sands Arbor Reception Centre. Cremation entrusted to Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. In memory of Emil, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
