Dave Olliff Posted By Janie Harrison Posted 1 day ago Passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, December 21, 2008. David Lloyd Olliff, of Durham, in his 54th year. Loving husband and best friend of the former Debbie Lawrence. Cherished father of Heather and her husband Scott Holloway of Edmonton, Alberta, and Jeff Olliff and his friend Deana of Pickering. Brother of Bonnie and her husband Don Cook and Glenda and her husband Ken Richardson, all of Brampton. Son-in-law of Norman and Myrtle Lawrence of Durham and brother-in-law of Cheryl and Kevin Holmes of Cambridge and Steven Lawrence of British Columbia. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews and his dog Chester. Predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Bernice Olliff. Visitation was held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Saturday, December 27 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, where members of the Masonic Lodge held a memorial service at 6:30 pm. A Celebration of Dave's Life was held at the Durham Legion on Sunday, December 28 at 2 pm. Kent Shelley officiated and Marilyn Dickson played the organ. Words of remembrance were given by his children, Heather and Jeff, and by his cousin, Linda Topping. The congregation sang "Softly and Tenderly" and "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You." Special music was played during the service, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" and "You Raise Me Up." The honourary pallbearers were Ken McCulloch and Bob Tyndall. The pallbearers were Harold Jelenski, Scott Holloway, Ken Richardson, Donald Cook Sr., Kevin Holmes and Paul Sharland. The flower bearers were Kim Richardson, Kevin Richardson, Lori Cook, Don Cook Jr. and Brian Cook. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
