ZWICKER, SHERMAN FENWICK HOMER , O.N.S.- 74 of Lunenburg Nova Scotia passed away at peace with God and the world on Tuesday November 9, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Lunenburg, he was surrounded by his family as he embarked on the last leg of his wonderful life's journey. Sherman was a lover of life and family, and possessed a strong and everlasting faith in God. His beliefs allowed him to deal and accept the many challenges that life presented him over his lifetime. He was a humble man who never complained. He led by example and was a leader in society. Born in Halifax, February 10, 1930, he was the only son of Marion (Dearborn) and F. Homer Zwicker. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (nee Marcus), son Peter (Shelley), daughters Lisa (Claude) and Andrea (Christopher). He was the proud grandfather of Fenwick, Marcus, Sarah, Joshua, Samuel and Alexa. He will be forever remembered for his love of family, life, and Lunenburg. He was recently awarded the Order of Nova Scotia by her Honour, Lieutenant Governor Myra Freeman at a special ceremony held in his home, Windycrest in Lunenburg. In 1989 he was awarded the Lieutenant- Governor's Medal for Excellence in Public Administration. Funeral services for Sherman Fenwick Homer Zwicker will be held at 2:00pm on Friday November 12, 2004 at Zion's Lutheran Church, Lunenburg with Very Reverend Austin Munroe, Rev. Greg Pritchard and Reverend Robert Brush presiding. Immediately following the service the family will host a reception at St. Johns Anglican Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Johns Anglican Church Restoration, Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Fund or any charity of choice. Visitation is being held at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg on Thursday November 11, 2004, 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
