JACKSON, Garfield Clayton - Of Deseronto, Ontario passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Lennox & Addington Hospital in Napanee in his 78th year. Garfield was born on May 21, 1931 in Coe Hill, Ontario to the late Tom and Justine Jackson. On August 15th, 1950 Garfield was enrolled with the Canadian Armed Forces and served in Canada, United States of America and the Far East. He was discharged on February 20th, 1952. Garfield received the Korea Medal (British Commonwealth Forces) and the United Nations Service Medal. On September 24th, 1955, Garfield married Jean (nee Lloyd). Garfield and Jean had 4 children, Tom (Wanda) of Deseronto, Dan (Lillian) of Kingston, Kellie (Mark) Bardy of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and Christine (Rick) Clark of Deseronto. Garfield had 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren on the way. He was the brother of Carson of Deseronto and Noel of Edmonton. He was predeceased by his brothers Elvin and Don. Garfield was a Transport Driver and the Teamster President. He enjoyed driving truck and learned something new on each of his travels. He was not a religious man, but a spiritual man. Garfield was a member of the Deseronto Legion #280, Teamster Local #91 and the Korean Veterans. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Garfield's life on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the McGLADE FUNERAL HOME in Deseronto, between the hours of 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. In keeping with his wishes cremation took place at the Cataraqui Crematorium in Kingston. Memorial Donations were made to the CNIB or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Garfield's Memory. 11371362
