MORGAN, Norah Humphry, D.Lit., B.Sc., Peacefully at home with her family around her on November 11, 2004. Norah was born and raised in Abergavenny, Wales where she met her life partner Ted on the tennis court. After distinguished careers in the RAF and WAAF, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Oakville's "Fertility Flats" where they engineered their family. A talented actress, Norah became a valued member of the Oakville Players. She was also a matchmaker for people and books at the Town L ibrary. In 1958 Norah was invited to become the sole woman teacher at Ridley College where she began to use Drama as a teaching method in her mathematics classes. To act as a balance to her intellectual activity she coached her younger students in cr icket, soccer and hockey. She was well equipped for her hockey duties, as she had been a Welsh International Field Hockey player. It was when she was invited to practice her expertise in the Theatre School at Niagara College that Norah's reputation a s a drama educator became internationally recognized. In co-operation with her friend Juliana Saxton she published two books which have sold world-wide, one of which was recently translated for Educators in China and the Czech Republic. While teachin g at the Theatre School, she was invited to develop the Educational Drama Program at Brock University. Bolstered by her boundless energy, she did that in the evenings until she retired, whereupon she worked full time at the University. In recognition of her contributions to drama education practice around the world, she received an Honorary Doctorate from Brock in 2000 and a Scholarship in her name has been created by The International Drama in Education Institute. Norah had a special way with a ll who met her and she influenced many lives. Her pupils found her captivating and inspirational. She will be missed by all whom she has touched. She is survived by her husband Ted, sister Peggy in England, sons David, Charles (Jenny), Paul (Susan), Jonathon (Kimberlee) and grandchildren Marjorie and Thomas, Robyn, Ross and Colin, Kaleigh and Jeremy. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in the forest glades at her home "The Millstone", through which she loved to walk. Donat ions may be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, to Brock University or to a charity of your choice.
