Margaret was born October 2, 1921 in Regina, Saskatchewan, an only child to parents Elizabeth Sim (Smith) and James Sim. Margaret graduated from the RGH School of nursing and met her husband, Dr. Albert Hudec while nursing. Together they raised five children: Albert (Brenda), Elizabeth (Larry), Robert (Dianne), John (Dorian) and Peggy (Jake). Following Albert’s passing on November 8, 1984, Margaret found great joy as a grandmother to fourteen grandchildren: Sarah, Andrew, Allison, Samuel, David, Jonathon, Amy, Robyn, Michael, Mariah, Jonah, Mark, Megan, and Scott. Margaret was loving and devoted to all of her children and grandchildren and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Margaret was a true friend. Margaret set aside her career in nursing to raise her children and was proud to be a homemaker. She was always there for her children and their friends. Margaret was known as “Mom” and “Granny” to so many children, so many friends. Margaret gave freely of herself as a dedicated volunteer for so many causes. Her hard work and generosity of spirit were acknowledged when she was awarded the Order of Canada. Peggy and Jake would like to thank the many friends who helped to care for Margaret during her final years, especially Mark, Megan and Scott.
