Lubomyr Hladyshevsky March 12, 1924 - November 12, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) On November 12, 2004, surrounded by his loving family at home, our dear Lubomyr, husband, father and grandfather was called to be with God. He will be dearly missed by Helen, his devoted wife of fifty-one years, his children Marta, Myron (Susan), Mark (Helene), Alexandra, Stephen and his five grandchildren Laura, Paul, Tabitha, Sarah and Jadon. Lubomyr was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Cornelia and his sister Nadia in Ukraine. He is survived by his brother Myroslav and family, his nieces Luba and Vera and their children in Ukraine and his brother-in-law John and family in Australia. Lubomyr was born on March 12, 1924 in Stanislaviv, Ukraine. His plans to become a dentist changed shortly after completing high school when he joined the army to fight against Ukraine's communist aggressors. Following the war, he lived in England for two years and immigrated to Canada at the behest of his brother Myroslav and settled in Calgary in 1951. Here he met his beloved wife Helen and were married on September 26, 1953. He was employed by Mannix & Co. and then joined General Petroleums which later became Westburne Drilling, retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service. During his lifetime he was actively involved in the parish, enjoyed singing in the choir, was an executive member of the Ukrainian Credit Union and other organizations. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Veterans of the First Division of the Ukrainian National Army. God grant eternal rest. Relatives and friends are invited to prayers at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 704 - 6th Street NE, on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be served at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Serhiy Harahuc officiating. Interment to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
