Mr. Roy Thomas December 29, 1949 - November 13, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mr. Roy Thomas, aged 54 years, of Westbury Crescent, Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and family by his side on Saturday, November 13, 2004. Born on a trapline near Pagwachuan Lake on December 29, 1949, Roy was later a resident of Caramat and I.R. 58 Longlac. Roy attended the St. Joseph residential school in Fort William for eight years. He then attended Confederation College for a short time. Roy was born an artist. He had his first professional art show in Toronto in 1966. He loved to paint and he had a wonderful gift of vision. His art was displayed in several countries around the world. Roy would be so excited to get to the studio and apply color to his canvas. He also loved to go out into the bush or go fishing just to be with nature to receive inspiration. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Elizabeth Toma (Thomas); brother’s Joe and Bert; sisters Evelyn and Beatrice. Roy is survived by his wife Louise; his children Randy, Roy and Rodney Thomas of Thunder Bay, Ruben of Barrie Ontario, Melissa Thomas of Mississauga and Prisilla Thomas of Armstrong; stepsons Clint Willier of Thunder Bay and Barry Willier of St. Albert, Alberta. Also survived by four sisters, Emilda Thomas of Thunder Bay, Cecilia Fawcett (John Paul) of Nakina, Mabel Thomas of Thunder Bay and Margrette Finlayson (John) of Thunder Bay; one brother Rudy Thomas of Ottawa and ten grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for the late Mr. Roy Thomas will be held on Friday, November 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, 1080 Keewatin Street. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gallery from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A private interment will follow cremation. Memorial donations may be made in Roy’s memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation. Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre
