Alfred (Al) LeBlanc Peacefully at his late residence, on Monday, January 26, 2009, of Alfred (Al) LeBlanc, of Brophy Avenue, Summerside, aged 88 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Newfoundland with the RCAF during the war and various other bases during his 30-year career in Canada. Born in Douglastown, N.B., he was the son of the late William and Georgina LeBlanc. Survived by his wife, Belle (Estey) LeBlanc; children Jeanne Heikamp (John Oliver), Dartmouth, N.S.; Rachelle (Ronald) Berneche, Ottawa, Ont.; Paulette (Ronald) Edwards, Ottawa, Ont.; Julie Anne (Blair) MacDonald, Cornwall, P.E.I.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Sr. Mary Therese LeBlanc; sisters-in-law Josephine LeBlanc and Aline LeBlanc. Predeceased by a sister, Edith; and brothers Philias, Edward, Gerald and Robert. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Thursday, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will later take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. only. Members of the Summerside branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home, Wednesday, at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations to Summerside Meals on Wheels or the Hospice Palliative Care Association, Summerside, would be appreciated.
