Chanel A. "Charlie" Albert, 77, of Bristol, widower of Georgette (Legere) Albert, died Wednesday, (December 28, 2005), at Southington Care Center. Mr. Albert was born June 15, 1928, in Madawaska, Maine, a son of the late Ben and Alice (Hebert) Albert. Charlie was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft until his retirement. He was a member of KMA Quarterly, a group of retired Pratt and Whitney employees. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and landscaping. A loving grandfather, he was known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Paul Albert of Windsor, three daughters, Denise Grabowski and her husband Matthew of Bristol, Michelle Lawton and her husband Jeffrey of Harwinton, and Monique Hodder of Wethersfield; three brothers, Leo Albert of E. Hartford, and Alcide and Patrick Albert of Maine, three sisters, Irma Soeder of Ohio, Martha White of N. Dakota, and Doris Valerie of California; three grandchildren, Samantha and Heather Lawton and Megan Grabowski, his mother-in-law, Zelica Leger of Bristol, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 9 a.m. from the O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Avenue Forestville, to St. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday evening form 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 96 Oak Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
