Mary Agnes (Babuchna) Desrosiers of Mississippi, formerly of New Orleans and Norton, died Oct. 11 following a brief illness after a routine surgery shortly before Hurricane Katrina. She was 67. Born, raised and educated in Mississippi, she had lived in North Attleboro from 1971 to 1978 before moving back to Mississippi. She returned to Massachusetts in 1980 and settled in Norton, where she lived until moving to Louisiana a few years ago. Following Hurricane Katrina, Mrs. Desrosiers’ family was not able to locate her for more than a week, until they discovered she had been transferred from a Louisiana hospital to nearby Mississippi. She enjoyed playing bingo. Her favorite times were those spent in the company of family and friends. Wife of the late Arthur “Norman” N., to whom she was married for 37 years, Mrs. Desrosiers is survived by her mother, Alma (Boney) Babuchna of Mississippi; a daughter, Lisa A. Arno of North Attleboro; a son, Lee of New Albany, Ohio; two grandsons, both of North Attleboro; four sisters, Lenda Winterstein of Biloxi, Miss., Brenda Raynor and Lana Martin, both of D’Iberville, Miss., and Pam Wilkerson of St. Martin, Miss.; five brothers, John Babuchna and Gerald Babuchna, both of D’Iberville, Miss., Eldon Babuchna of Latimer, Miss., Weldon Babuchna of St. Martin, Miss., and Harold Babuchna of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m todayin the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private.
