George R. Bastien of Arlington Heights Services and interment for George R. Bastien will be private. He was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Evanston to George L. and Ann (nee Simpson) Bastien. He passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Manor Care in Arlington Heights. George was a Navy veteran, serving for six years during World War II and the Korean War; a life member of Arlington Heights V.F.W. Post #981 and American Legion Post # 208. He also worked for Wells Lamont Corp. for over 40 years until his retirement in 1991. George also found time to volunteer as a monitor in the computer room of the Arlington Heights Senior Center. George is survived by his daughter, Lynn A. Bucher of Madison, Wis. and one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (nee Schwall), whom he married Dec. 7, 1947, in Evanston; and his sister, Betty Ann Owens.
