Sidney Hale Chabassol MAPLE RIDGE, BC - Born July 29, 1920, in Westville, N.S. to the late H. F. and Jean (Johnston) Chabassol, Sidney Hale Chabassol died in Ridge Meadows Hospital, Maple Ridge, B.C., November 16, 2004, after a long illness. Predeceased by brothers, Charles, Robert and James of Westville, N.S.; sister, Peg Clarke of Hamilton, ON; niece, Jessie Bourque; and nephew, Kenneth Chabassol. Sadly missed and loved by family; wife, Jean (Davis), of 59 years; sons, Bill (Liz) of Saskatoon and David of Maple Ridge; grandchildren, Joanna, Linda, Steven, and Ian Chabassol; brother, David (Jean) of Victoria, B.C.; sister, Edna MacLeod of Winterhaven, FL; three nieces and three nephews. An employee of Glidden Paint CO. (I.C.I) for 38 years, he moved across Canada from Amherst, N.S. to Riverview, N.B. to Burnaby, B.C., where he lived for 28 years before moving to Maple Ridge, B.C., three and a half years ago. A former member and past president of the Amherst Lions Club, an avid golfer for 38 years, and member of golf clubs in Amherst, N.S., Moncton, N.B., Vancouver, B.C. and Etobicoke, ON, Sid represented Nova Scotia in the 1959 Brier, with the team out of Amherst. A family gathering will take place, with cremation to follow, and interment in Amherst at a later date. Special thanks to the staff of 2 west for their care, also those at Creekside Day Program, Dr. Girdher, and all the many involved from the Fraser Health Community.
