Priscilla Z. BELLAIRE

BARAGA - Priscilla Z. Tahtinen, 86, of Baraga, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for five days. She was born in Baraga on November 13, 1919, daughter of the late Mose and Exilia (Sylvester) Bellaire, Sr. Priscilla graduated from Baraga High School in 1940. She married Edwin Tahtinen in Chassell on March 30, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2002.Priscilla and her late husband owned and operated the Hillside Service on M-38 until they retired in 1989.She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Baraga and the Baraga County Community Action Board for many years.She was an avid quilter, loved to can and make pasties.Mrs. Tahtinen is survived by her loving children, James (Mary) Tahtinen of Tampa, Fla., Gerald (Nancy) Tahtinen of Eagle River, Wis., Dale (Alice) Tahtinen of Baraga, Sally (Emery) Borgen of L'Anse and Susie (Fred) Dempster of Naperville, Ill.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, June Allm of Lawton, Okl., Norraine Kosturick of Auburn, Ind., Jeannine Pelto of Baraga and Marie Tahtinen of Troy, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2005, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Baraga, with Father Augustin George, Celebrant. Family members will serve as casket escorts. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse and for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday.
