SOUTH HADLEY - Ronald M. Benoit, a lifelong resident of South Hadley, died at Holyoke Medical Center on December 29. He was born February 16, 1938 to Arthur and Lillian (Beaulieu) Benoit. He graduated from South Hadley High School. He served in the Coast Guard as a Hospital Corpsman. Ron received his Bachelor's Degree from American International College and his Masters Degree from Western New England College. Prior to retirement he was a teacher in the South Hadley School System. Ron was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, South Hadley. He was a member of the South Hadley K of C Council #1721. Ron enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Amherst Golf Club, where he enjoyed playing with the Legends. He also enjoyed trips to Cape Cod, going out to eat, reading and swimming, mornings at middle school. He leaves his wife of 42 years, Lorraine (Meunier) Benoit. He also leaves a brother, Arthur Benoit and his wife Claire of South Hadley. He leaves two sisters, Evelyn Poulin of Chicopee and Ann Wilk of South Hadley; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Benoit of South Hadley. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley, followed by a Mass at St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m. with burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
