Orin J. Bertrand, 74 of McGregor died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1931 in McGregor to Ephriam 'Bae' and Minnie (Douglas) Bertrand. On May 28, 1955 in Minneapolis Orin was united in marriage to Audrey Ellingsen. After marriage they farmed in McGregor and the Kettle River area. He then worked as a diesel mechanic for Ryder Trucking. Upon his retirement from Ryder he moved back to his family homestead that was recognized by the state of Minnesota as a Centennial Family Farm. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the McGregor VFW, American Legion, and a proud volunteer at the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge. He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey; brother Don, and his parents Bae and Minnie. He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law; Jeanne (Ken) Waldemar of Lindstrom. His loving god-children and their families and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. CELEBRATION OF LIFE:1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 in the McGregor VFW. No flowers please, memorials are preferred to Aitkin County Hospice or Woodland Cemetery Association of McGregor. Orin was proud to have his body donated to the U of M anatomy bequest program.
