JOSEPH (JOEY) RAMSEY BIENVENU IV, a beloved husband, father, son and grandson passed away peacefully in a Houston hospital on Sunday, July 10, 2005 as a result of complications from surgery. Joey was born March 23, 1968 in Houston, but spent most of his life in Austin where he graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Following graduation he attended Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Texas Tech University in Lubbock where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Joey was an accomplished and gifted athlete and excelled in many sports, but in his adult life he maintained a special fondness for extreme snow skiing and water skiing. Some of his happiest final days were spent demonstrating to his young children the finer points of water skiing on his beloved Lake Austin. His family meant everything to him, and he is survived by his loving wife Georgette and two beautiful children: Trevor, 5 and Taylor, 2. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather Mary Gay Caven and Alan Merritt of Dallas; sister Kristin Bienvenu of Dallas; grandmother Isabel R. Caven of Austin; uncle and aunt H. Scott and Vivien Caven of Austin; and aunt and uncle Betty Carol and John Richey also of Houston. In addition, he leaves behind scores of cousins who loved him. Joey was preceded in death by his father Joseph Ramsey Bienvenu III, grandfathers Hubbard Scott Caven and Joseph Ramsey Bienvenu, Jr. and grandmother Bernice Bienvenu. Throughout Joey's entire life he demonstrated a strong capacity to love his fellowman and a desire to give back to the world. Therefore, he would take immense pleasure knowing that his last act on earth was to give the gift of life as an organ donor. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, July 15th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday July 16, 2005 at Dripping Springs United Methodist Church, 28900 R.R. 12 in Dripping Springs, Texas with interment immediately following at Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 W.
