CANAAN -- Albert "Al" R. Blouin, 50, died at his home in Canaan on Dec. 16, 2005, with family at his side.He was born on Jan. 19, 1955, in Augusta, the son of John and Maxine (Davidson) Blouin. He was educated in the Augusta schools. He served in the Navy. He married the former Sandra Gilcott on July 23, 1977, in Farmingdale.Al started out working construction. He then became the owner and operator of Blouin Forestry Products in Canaan for a number of years. For the last eight years he had been with the Red Cross in Waterville, and was the chapter manager for the last three years. One of the things Al was most proud of was his service at Ground Zero at the World Trade Center site in New York City during 9/11.He liked to fish, hunt, go camping, and was an outdoorsman. He liked watching NASCAR, growing a vegetable garden, and he loved spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra of Canaan; four children, Mandy Shorey and her husband, Brian, of Augusta, Heather Washburn and her husband, Derek, of Canaan, Shannon Drury and her husband, Chad, of Madison, and Glen Blouin and his companion, Shauna, of Skowhegan; two brothers, Henry Blouin and his wife, Janet, of Kansas City, Mo., and Larry Blouin and his wife, Simone, of Greene; six grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Alexis, McKenzie, Hunter and Morgan; and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by one son, Albert Blouin Jr.; his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and David Blouin; and nephew Larry Blouin Jr.Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
