Conrad J. BOILARD

WORCESTER— Conrad J. “Chickie” Boilard, 81, of Worcester, died December 23, 2005, at home, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Conrad is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marie (Ladue) Boilard; his children, Christopher and his wife Joanne of Andover, Michelle B. Currie and her husband Robert, of Worcester and Lynne B. McMillian and her husband John, of Belchertown. ”Chickie” is also survived by nine grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; three great grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Lapine of Marlborough; his brother, Robert Boilard of Wilbraham and many beloved nephews and nieces. A son, Mark C. Boilard predeceased him. Conrad was born in Springfield, MA, August 5, 1924, son of Adelard and Lillian (Daigle) Boilard, and spent his working career in the family business, A. Boilard & Sons, Inc., in Indian Orchard, MA. The company was founded by his father in the 1930s. He retired in 1984, and along with Marie, spent their retirement years between Massachusetts and Florida. Conrad proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, serving in India, and was a life member of the American Legion Post 277. He was an avid photographer with a Fellowship in the Photographic Society of America and a lifetime member of the New England Camera Council, and the Springfield Photographic Society. He was also a judge, a world wide exhibitor and teacher of photography. Conrad served on the Board of Trustees of Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, and also enjoyed being a HAM radio operator, with the call letter K1DSR. “Chickie” recently completed his autobiography. Conrad’s funeral will be held Wednesday, December 28 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Aloysius French Cemetery, Indian Orchard, MA, at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
