NEW BEDFORD -- Ernest R. Bouchard, 88, of New Bedford died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Anne V. (Auger) Bouchard; they were married 50 years. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, he was the son of the late Albert and Fabiola (Moreau) Bouchard. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Bouchard was a former carpenter for the Carpenter's Union; he had been a member for 50 years. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his widow; four sons, Roger Bouchard and his wife, Joyce, of Dartmouth, Joseph Bouchard and his wife, Suzanne, Leo Bouchard and his wife, Pamela, and Normand Bouchard and his wife, Nancy, all of New Bedford; a daughter, Pauline McAlister, and her husband, Keith, of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Marie Piche, and Eugene and Armand Bouchard. His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St.
