Sister Roslyn Mary Boudoin, MHS, age 65 years, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 3:20 PM in the LSU Medical Center, Shreveport, LA. Survivors include: three brothers: Ralph Boudoin of Harvey, LA, Rudy Boudoin of Baton Rouge, LA and Russell Boudoin of Snellville, Georgia; and a host of other relatives. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jackson J. Boudoin and Frances Elizabeth Landry Boudoin; and one brother, Raymond Boudoin. Sister Roslyn Mary Boudoin was born February 28, 1939 in New Orleans, LA. She entered the Convent of the Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament in Lafayette, LA on August 15, 1957 and received the religious title of Sister Dominic Savio. When it was permitted, Sister Roslyn returned to using her Baptismal name. In preparation for teaching, she obtained a B.S. Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. She taught primary grades for twenty two years at St. Maurice, Annunciation, and Star of the Sea Schools in New Orleans. She taught fifth grade at Our Lady of Fatima School in Lafayette, LA from 1973 until 1976. Sister Roslyn served as a medical transcriptionist at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette and was receptionist at Bethany Health Care Center for three years. She was a part-time instructor with the Sylvan Learning Center from 1996- 2001. Sister Roslyn taught at the Holy Rosary Academy in New Orleans, until she retired because of poor health in 2001. She loved teaching and was the Lead Teacher and planner in a new ""Reading Readiness for Pre Schoolers'' program for Sylvan Learning Center. In one of her own notes on teaching, she wrote, ""It is better to teach a little WELL, than a lot POORLY''. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2005 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Bethany Chapel for Sister Roslyn. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Reverend William Blanda, Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, LA will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Saturday at The Bethany Chapel from 9:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sister Roslyn's name to the Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament Retirement Fund, P.O. Box 90037, Lafayette, LA 70509-0037.
