Joseph Patrick BOUDREAU

BOUDREAU, Joseph Patrick - Age 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson's and heart disease. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:30PM Saturday, November 26, 2005 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach St., Father Frederick H. Taggart celebrant. Burial at Gracelawn Cemetery. Visitation 2-8PM Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, 1616 Davison Rd. where the Rosary will be prayed at 7PM Friday. Visitation at the church 11:30AM Saturday until time of services. Joe was born in Ewing, Missouri on June 28, 1916 to Anna and Leonard Boudreau. He moved to Flint as a child where he resided until his death. Joe graduated from Flint Central High School, he played basketball for the City Triple A League and the Flint Church League. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, upon his return he became a salesman in the grocery business and worked for many years in that capacity. He refereed basketball for 28 years for the MHSAA and Flint Junior College. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Brown Funeral Home. He enjoyed dancing, and belonged to Club Clarendon and to Club Tuesday. Joe was an avid golfer and loved playing with his family and friends. Joe was warm, friendly and funny. He loved people and brightened any situation. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his many friends and family: Betty, his loving and devoted wife of 59 years; his children, Robert (Nancy) Boudreau of Ann Arbor, Janis (Alan) Campbell of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Nancy Boudreau of Flushing; 9 grandchildren, Anthony (Kimberly) Boudreau of Anderson, Indiana, Tracy (Lowry) Smith of Ann Arbor, Kim Tomalia of Flushing, Sarah Ripley of Royal Oak, Betsy, Liza and Elena Boudreau of Ann Arbor, Laura and Stephanie Campell of Grand Rapids; 4 great-grandchildren, Emma Boudreau, Hannah Tomalia, Donavan and Royce Smith; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Joe was preceded in death by his loving son, Thomas Patrick in September 2005; his parents; brothers, Paul and Louis Boudreau; and sisters, Lucille Russell and Sally Baxter. Joe has been a resident of Fostrian, Heartland Center for nearly 6 years and the family would like to thank the many staff members who provided loving and compassionate care, especially (but not limited to), Sharon Mitchell, Carol Duncan, Sharon Rizk, Lovey McLaurin, Brenda Henson, Nancy Kelly and Gay Percy.
