SCOTT - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Mecel Leger, 68, the former Mecel Bourque, who died at 5:21 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Lafayette General Medical Center.Entombment will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery Mausoleum in Scott.The Rev. Joseph H. Stemmann of Opelousas will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral service.Joni Hamilton, organist, will sing for the services, "Be Not Afraid", "The Lord's Prayer", "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Amazing Grace".A native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Scott for most of her life, Mrs. Leger was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Community. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters Society.Mrs. Leger was the most wonderful mother in the world. Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her children and they loved her very much. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.Survivors include two daughters, Connie Sue Thibodeaux and her spouse, Joey, and Christine Hebert and her spouse, Manuel; one son, Ed Leger; seven grandchildren, Brady Hebert, Tyler Leger, Jenay Thibodeaux, Jelyse Thibodeaux, Britney Oliver, Brandon Hebert and Joey Thibodeaux III; one great-grandchild, Walton "JT" Thibodeaux IV; and one sister, Betty Leger.She was preceded in death by her spouse, Milton Vincent Leger; her parents, Lurcy and Elodie Credeur Bourque; and one brother, Lolly Bourque.A rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. today in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Friday until time of the funeral Mass.Pallbearers will be Ed Leger, Joey Thibodeaux Jr., Manuel Hebert, Joey Thibodeaux III, Ricky Leger and Preston Leger Jr.Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Scott, (337) 234-2320.
