BOWDOIN, Henry Coy Sr., 82, of Dover, Fla., passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace. Coy was born August 8, 1923, to Alto Criss Bowdoin and Sarah Katherine Hendricks in Coffee County, Alabama. His family moved to Dover in 1935 when he was 14 years old. He attended Dover School. He lived in Orangeburg and Wagener, S.C., from 1964 to 1997. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 877th Airborne Engineer Battalion, Gilder Attachment. He served in World War II in Normandy on D-Day, and Northern France. He married Agnes Ruth Croft in 1947 and was married 49 years. In 1997 he married Ravenell Sweat. Coy was a member of Dover United Methodist Church and was active at the annual church bazaar as the "boiled peanut man". He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association. Coy loved his Lord, his country and his family. He was a devoted grandfather. His parents; brothers, Tully and Herbert; sisters, Tommie Rue and Sarah Will; and his wife, Ruth, pr edeceased him. Coy is survived by his wife, Ravenell; his son, Henry Coy "Hank" Bowdoin Jr., and wife Sarah of Orangeburg, S.C.; and daughter Ruth Ann Owens and husband Wyndham of Wagener, S.C.; grandchildren, Christin, Wyndham III, Wesley, Tony and Jamie; and four great-grandchildren. Coy also leaves a step-family; son, Jimmie Sweat and wife Mary Lou, and a daughter Cherri Clark and husband Ron, all of Dover; and grandchildren, Jana, Curtis and Joe. Also his sister, Lottie T. Kirkland and husband A.P. of Dover; and brother Alto Criss, Jr. and wife Josie of Tampa. Special thanks and admiration to Life Path Hospice, Aqua team and all of the staff at Melech Hospice House who are all truly angels sent from heaven to help us through these hardest of times. Visitation for Coy will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2005, at the Wells Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at Dover United Methodist Church, with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columb ia, S.C. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Life Path Hospice of Hillsborough County or Melech Hospice House 111125 52nd Street, Tampa 33617.
