Kenneth CARTIER

Kenneth ""Cash' Cartier, 79, East Grand Forks, Minnesota, died peacefully at his winter home in Mesa Arizona on Thursday, July 7, 2005 with his loving wife by his side. Kenneth was born on June 18, 1926 in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota the son of Cashmere ""Cash' and Anna (Constant) Cartier. Ken enlisted in the US Navy in March of 1944 and served on the USS Alexander J. Luke. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946, and upon his return graduated from Lafayette High School, Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. In 1953 he married Hazel Fuller-Paulson. They lived in Red Lake Falls until moving to East Grand Forks in 1960. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking family vacations, traveling, working around the house, rocking the babies, fishing with his children and grandchildren, and skating. He was employed by Northern States Power Company for 42 years and retired in 1987. Kenneth is survived by his wife Hazel of East Grand Forks, 19 children; Lana (Dale) Violette of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, Cheri (Jerry) Enright of Mesa, AZ, Gayle (Denny) Nelson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Rob (Rita) Cartier of Fosston, Minnesota, Mark (Janice) Cartier of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Thomas (Ethel) Cartier of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Kari (John) Thoreson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mary (Sean) Gentry of Vandenberg AFB, California, Julie (Steve) Buzick of Pella, Iowa, Christie (Mark) Winchell of Bemidji, Minnesota, Connie Schimke of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Heidi Cartier of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Rachelle Cartier of Crookston, Minnesota, Sheila Cartier of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Carmen Cartier of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Nghia (Khanh) Nguyen of Renton, Washington, Nhon (Ti) Nguyen of Moorhead, Minnesota, Son Nguyen of Renton, Washington, Kip Cartier of Minneapolis, Minnesota, 53 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a sister, Constance Emard of Saugus, California. Preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons; Gregory and Thane Cartier, 2 sisters; Leone Carlson, Mary Ann Brill, 2 brothers; Leo and Leonard Cartier. Services: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2005, First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Visitation: 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, Minnesota and for an hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, Minnesota with military honors by the East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157 and VFW #3817.
