Marie (Jeckle) Maricque, 91, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2005, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter in Neenah. She was born March 15, 1914, in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Isadore and Anna Besaw Champeau. She married Andrew Jeckle in 1933 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1968. In 1970 she married Robert Maricque at Holy Cross. He preceded her in death in 1989. Marie worked very hard as a truck gardener with her first husband, Andrew, and she traveled extensively with her second husband, Bob, wintering in Texas and Arizona, and going to their cottage in Crivitz. She enjoyed cards, dancing, dice, and gambling trips. She was also a member of the Green Bay Square Dance Club.Survivors include four daughters, Viola (Irvin) Peeters of DePere, Joan (Ronald) Strebel of Neenah, Gloria (Gary) Liebert of Fond du Lac and Darlene (Dan) De Groot of Green Bay; one son, Milan (Jean) Jeckle of Spokane, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Linda (Robert) Ferguson, and their children of Green Bay; a foster son, Elmer (Joann) Bigfire, and their children of Green Bay; a stepson, Michael (Marlene) Maricque, and their children of Green Bay; 19 grandchildren, Marcia, Cheryl, Dan, Jeanne, Kathy, Cindy, Renee, Laura, Pamela, Jodi, Julie, Heidi, Bill, Ryan, Kaila, Lisa, Mark, Suzanne and Scott; 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Norrie) De Bauche of New Franken and Bea (Ward) Connelly of Green Bay; and special friends, Agnes Dequaine and Margaret Spielbauer, both of Green Bay.In addition to her parents and husbands, Marie was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Clarence, Harry, and Ed; and four sisters, Louella, Lorraine, Dora and Ann.• Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Holy Cross Church with the Rev. Kenneth De Groot, O. Praem officiating. Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. • Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, with a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marie’s name may be directed to Theda Care at Home Hospice.The family would like to thank Theda Care at Home Hospice and also Joan and Ronald Strebel for the wonderful, loving care given Mom during the last three weeks of her life.Proko-Wall Funeral Home, Green Bay, is assisting the family.
