Mrs. Emily C. Thompson died Tuesday, May 24, 2005. She was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Eau Claire, Wis., to the late Emmett and Mary (Bruer) Chaput. She attended the Eau Claire schools and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. On Dec. 28, 1937, she married Alvin N. Thompson at St. Patrick Parish, Eau Claire. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1968. Emily worked in health care at Wausau Hospital, North and South as a unit clerk. She was a United Fund volunteer and as a volunteer directed the American Red Cross blood pressure screening program for several years. She was a member of the Wausau Hospital Retirement Club, the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association, a member of MCREA — Marathon County Retired Educators Association and WRTA — Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association. For many years she was a member of St. Catherine’s Circle of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wausau. Currently, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. A special thanks is extended to her spiritual family of St. John the Evangelist.She is survived by a daughter, Judith, Monroe, Wash.; and son, Thom, Green Bay. She is further survived by three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and by a very special extended family friend, John Kuiawa.In addition to her husband and parents, Emily was preceded in death by three sisters, an older brother and her twin brother.A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
