CHEBOYGAN - Mary A. "Babe" Deroshia, age 80 of Cheboygan passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Hospice House with her loving family at her side.She was born Feb. 15, 1925 in Cheboygan to Arthur and May (Jarvis) Charboneau. On Dec. 18, 1942 in Willow Run she married Leonard C. Deroshia, who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2004. Babe was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, shopping and, for more than 25 years, her monthly pinochle club. She was considered a compassionate caregiver who especially enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with the people she loved most.Survivors include six children, Linda Cafolla of Cheboygan and Debbie (Chuck) Berden of Cheboygan, Judy Deroshia of Traverse City, Patty (Jim) Workman of Traverse City and Dave (Barb) Deroshia of Traverse City and Kelly Deroshia of California; five brothers, Carl Charboneau, Jack Charboneau, Chuck Charboneau, Dick Charboneau and Leonard Charboneau; three sisters, Betty Stonehouse, Dolores Perry and Hazel Gouin; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Stec, Brenda Cafolla, Chris Cafolla, Jason Berden, Cara Berden, Dane Deroshia, Jesse Deroshia, Alexandra Workman and Tyler Workman; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Andrew Grzech; special friends of the family, Holly Sichta and Patty De Groff; and numerous nieces and nephews.Besides her husband, Leonard, Babe was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Margaret; two brothers, Arnold Charboneau and Art Charboneau Jr.; and one sister, Aurlie Deroshia.Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, June 17, 2005, at the Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. today. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan, where a funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Paul Megge officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice House in Cheboygan or the Cheboygan Memorial Hospital Building Fund.
