NEW BEDFORD -- Alice L. (Charest) Babineau-Ferreira, 89, of New Bedford died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the widow of Joseph Ferreira and Henry J. Babineau. Born in Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Theriault) Charest. She lived most of her life in New Bedford and was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. She was a waitress at Gaudette's Pavilion. Mrs. Babineau-Ferreira was a member of St. Joseph Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing bingo and, most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Robert J. Babineau of New Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Rachel L. Babineau of Westport; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Henry J. Babineau, grandmother of the late Richard Babineau, and sister of the late Jean B. Charest, Anna Marie LaFrance and Aurore Nadeau. Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
