JOAN C. BENOIT WILLISTON — Joan C. Benoit of Williston passed away peacefully in her sleep Dec. 21, 2005. She was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Pittsfield, Maine, the daughter of Lawrence and Delma (Steen) Coffin. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, and obtained a medical secretary degree in 1952 from Hussen Junior College, Bangor, Maine. She married George R. Benoit of Brunswick, Maine, on June 14, 1952. She is survived by her husband, George of Williston; children, Michael and wife Martha of Cambridge, Vt.; Douglas and wife Lynn of Essex Junction, daughter Allison of Columbia, S.C.; her grandchildren Michelle Benoit and Eric Benoit; a brother, Phillip Coffin of Haschton, Ga., and sister, Carol Tibbits of Millinocket, Maine, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, daughter Natalie and son David. She was a devoted wife and mother and took great pride and pleasure in her children and grandchildren. Joan created a warm and loving home wherever George's career moved them, making and keeping friendships across the country. She enjoyed traveling, square and round dancing and playing bridge. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, in St. James Episcopal Church in Essex Junction. Memorial contributions in Joan's honor can be made to Vermont Lung Association, 30 Farrell Street, South Burlington, Vt. 054039987. Corbin & Palmer Funeral and Cremation Services, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction, in care of arrangements.
