Defosse, Roland "Ronnie" -- March 1, 2005 Roland "Ronnie" Defosse, 80, of 9166 Lewis Point Road, Canastota, died Tuesday, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 29, 1924, in West Warwick, Rhode Island, the son of Gedeon and Elphosine Croteau Defosse. Ronnie spent his early years in Rhode Island, attending the Artic schools. He moved to the Central New York area in 1950, and had lived in Canastota since 1964. He had worked for Syracuse University for 36 years, retiring in 1986.Ronnie was a WWII Veteran, serving in Germany and France with the US Army. He enjoyed his pets and feeding wild animals. Ronnie loved spending time at Turning Stone Casino. Ronnie was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. He married Evaline Marlette on July 21, 1942 in Rhode Island. Survivors: His wife, Evaline; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Katlin Defosse of Syracuse, and Timmy Defosse of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Yvette and Laverne Ward of Canastota; a brother, Raymond Defosse of Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Richard Crother of Rhode Island; four grandchildren, David Ward, James Ward, Philip Ward, and Michael Ward; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. The Rev. Kevin J. Corcoran, Pastor of St. Agatha's Church, will officiate. Burial, Whitelaw Cemetery.
